Here is my first Hei Hei design made at a friends request. Came out pretty good. Although I tried to make it so his head would move up and down but I did not get it right. Any suggestions could help.
Printer:
Da Vinci Jr. 1
Rafts:
Doesn't Matter
Supports:
Yes
Resolution:
.1 or best possible
Infill:
90%
Notes:
I went with 90& infill because i knew there we be a bit of sanding and some carving to make everything fit correctly. But if you scale the head down a few percent it should fit just fine without the sanding/carving.I also wanted to make it as durable as possible and it seemed to do the trick.
Putting Hei Hei together
Simply trim the supports using which ever tools you prefer. Slide the head in the upper part of the body leaving the ball end on the inside and glue the bottom to the top. After printing I realized the model was not completely balanced so I created a platform for him to stand on and used neodymium magnets on his feet and the stand.
I designed this using pictures from the movie in ZBrush to create a standard model that resembled Hei Hei. I am more familiar with Sketchup so I exported the model from ZBrush and imported to Sketchup to create the head movement action.
