Buddha protected by the naga, south-east of Angkor Thom, Cambodia, middle of the 12th century, sandstone. Musée du Cinquantenaire (Brussels, Belgium). Made with ReCap Pro from AutoDesk.
Buddha sits in the position of meditation on Mucilinda, a serpent (naga) whose body forms a throne and the seven heads protect Buddha against the storm and the big deluges that fall during his meditation after his awakening. Buddha is here at the same time a monk and a king. He wears a very simple dress and a richly decorated diadem.
