RenatoT's high-res Mario is very well sculpted--except that it doesn't slice correctly and there are always a few missing layers causing the head to come off during or after print. I ran the model through Meshmixer (free & useful)'s "make solid" at highest accuracy. Basically, the program tried to completely re-sculpt the model as a single piece. The result is an STL very large in size but perfectly printable. IT'S ME, MARIO!!

Support everywhere at 65 degrees. Cura's Support Interface feature is a godsend. The support peels easily off leaving almost no scars. Combined with the gradual infill feature (5% infill at most of the model, 20% only at the top few mm's), I'm convinced Cura is the best slicer out there. Try it out!
