USES NON-PRINTED PARTS - SEE BELOW FOR DETAILS
This is a working model of the Colt M1911 adapted from files found in this Instructable:
http://www.instructables.com/id/3D-Printed-1911/
My modifications include fixing the magazine catch to work more like the real thing and making it so that the slide and barrel can be disassembled like an actual Colt 1911. I also added parts to allow for a recoil spring to be properly fitted.
Some parts like the receiver have been cut into parts to allow for easier printing, less support material etc. The unmodified versions of those parts should also be included.
Non-printed parts are:
4mm steel rod
5mm steel rod
A 7.4 x 165mm compression spring
The spring from a retractable pen
I used 4mm steel rod for the hammer and safety stop axles and 5mm steel rod for the slide catch axle (the one nearer the front). You will need to drill out the holes in the receiver to accept these rods. I found this was the most reliable way to ensure a fairly tight fit; you don't want them to come loose!
For springs, I used a spring from a retractable pen for the magazine catch (it may need cutting down) and the larger spring is used for the recoil action. The specific one I used can be found here:
