This is an attempt to create a reasonable 28mm scale M3/M5 half track. The differences between the M3 and M5 are aesthetically minor (IMHO) so please don't start counting rivets.
I started with Bergman's model of the M-3 halftrack, and mated it with an upscaled model of Doug's M-5 halftrack rear section. I cleaned up the wheels and added some detail to Bergman's tracks, and created the HMG pulpit and the two .30 MMGs.
I made the model to print flat on the build plate, with the front axle locking into the halftrack's underside. the support post for the HMG pulpit also locks into the floor, and then the recess in the pulpit. Likewise, the HMG's ammo box presses into the recess of the gun mount. you may have to drill out the HMG's pivot hole; there is a recess of the pivot, but sometimes support material can be stubborn
I had been unable to locate a 28mm M3/M5 in thingiverse, so this may help file a void, I added a comparison photo of my finished 3d print next to a Warlord games M3 half track plastic model. From the game table top, they would work well together.
The M3/M5 series were used by just about every Allied nation in WW2, and afterwards in Korea, the Middle East, and and countless "bush wars".
