(DESCRIPTION YET TO BE COMPLETELY FACT-CHECKED, SHOULD HAVE COMPLETELY ACCURATE VERSION UP SOON.  THE MODEL, HOWEVER, IS ACCURATE.)

This thing is a geological model of a small chunk of the Hanford site, the location where most of the plutonium was produced for the nuclear weapons created during the Cold War.  This shows the different underground structures in a way that's easy to understand.  In order to make it more interesting, each layer has been subject to z exaggeration, with one unit in the vertical is equivalent to 16 units in X or Y.  The chunk is approximately 900m x 710 meters, your scale may vary depending on how you print it.

Fun facts: The CCU3 and CCU2 layers are the most radioactive, each containing most of the spills from radioactive waste tanks.  If one were to stand next to material from either layer without proper protection, they would die of radiation poisoning within the day.  The divot in CCUG, which is made of a dense, compressed clay, is one of the only things standing between this nuclear waste and the groundwater.

Notes:

I recommend scaling down to approximately 80%, then printing each layer on its side.  Leads to a much nicer looking print, and significantly less support removal.
