A cotton spool holder for crocheting.
Dimensions:
Stand height: ~15cm
Stand length: 10cm
Width of stand with rod: 17cm.
Rod height from ground: 12cm.
Rod diameter: 1.5cm
Rod cap diameter: 2cm.
Instructions:
Pieces include: Stand (t shaped piece), leg piece, spool rod, rod cap.
Print 2 of the stand, leg and cap pieces.
Print 1 of the rod piece.
Attach the legs to the base by fitting them into the slots on the bottom and pressing down gently on the stand so they fit tightly and the base doesn't wobble when placed on a flat surface.
Rest the rod in the stand and (while assembled) glue the two end caps onto the rod.
Slide the rod with caps through the spool, rest it back on the stand, crochet and enjoy. ;)
Notes:
With the exception of the caps - assuming you glue them on - the holder can be easily disassembled. The pieces (excepting the end caps for the rod) are designed to be a snug fit so they should stay together without any need for glue.
You may want to adjust the rotation of the rod to stand upright for printing, it may take a little bit longer to print but will be a lot nicer in the end.
You may want to adjust the rotation of the stand to lay flat on the bed for printing. I modelled it standing upright but if you lay it flat, it won't need any supports.
I had some issues with the scale after exporting from Blender and importing into the slicing program. Despite modelling in cm, when importing to a few slicer programs, the scale of the models were tiny (it took the cm and turned them into mm for some reason). To fix this, I scaled the models up in Blender. If you find they're massive (like, meters in size), simply scale them down to 10% of their original size, this should be correct and match the dimensions listed above.
Hope you find this useful, feedback welcome. =)
