I attended a post-conference gala dinner with a steampunk theme. Although Thingiverse has a number of steampunk goggles, I was not 100% happy with the selection. So I took two that had features I liked and ran with a combo-remix! See instructions below.
Printer Brand:
MakerBot
Printer:
Rafts:
No
Supports:
Yes
Resolution:
.2mm
Infill:
15%
Notes:
I printed the inner parts with opaque PLA with a 15% infill and supports.
I printed the outer eye covers with black tinted translucent T-Glase. I added my own supports with Autodesk Print Studio. I find these supports are very easy to remove. If you would like to use your own slicer supports, I provided versions with no supports
For post-printing:
I "distressed" the inner sections by first spray painting with a bronze spray paint and then mist-spraying with a black matte spray. I was careful not to fully cover the first coat.
I purchased eight 1" #6 brass screws to attach the parts. No need for nuts, since the screws should snug into to the plastic
I cut one of my daughter's old belts to create the strap. You can use an upholstery nail or just punch a 1/4" bolt through.
