The full scale version is disappointing in that while the stl file shows good detail the printed version is less clear. One solution is to scale up the image so that the prints show the detail available in the stl file. Another solution is to treat the fossil as a relief map and scale only in the vertical direction. The printed version, scaled by 2 along z, better shows details in the fossil. A closeup image of the fossil is shown below.
