I fixed the STL errors with Meshmixer and separated the griffins from the base. Thus they can be printed separately. This makes painting /spraying them much easier.

Notes:
The griffins where painted with acetone/ABS juice which was then vapour smoothed with acetone. Afterwards they where primed, sanded and sprayed with gold color.
