As the Americans looked at Europe, watching the German Panzers and Blitzkrieg trample Europe, they realized they needed some new, heavier tanks. Thus the M6 Heavy Tank was born. It went through many tests and prototypes, but it had engine problems, and was eventually declared not necessary. The project was cancelled, and the tank fell into the dust bin of tank history. However, I decided that it needed honoring, since it was influential in the design of future American tanks.
