The 1:200 scale model of the 2S1 SP gun by dr_fil is excellent, and fully fit for purpose.  However, it does not scale well to 1:76 (no surprise), so I felt that an alternative approach might add value.  Now that I am essentially retired, I occasionally have time to generate models, and this one has been in the works for some time.

This design is based on a surface model in the SketchUp library, offered by Jorge Balas, to whom my thanks.  The process of modifying and adjusting in Sketchup (my thanks to AutoCAD) and in 3D Builder (thanks to Microsoft) resulted in a model that addressed the missing elements, such as supports for the wheels and incomplete translation of the wheels themselves.  I then chose to split the turret and hull (separately) vertically to ease printing and take advantage of the higher apparent resolution of printers in certain directions.  I would value comment on this.  I have added dowels and appropriate holes to help alignment, but am not quite sure if these are necessary. I finally decided to split the hull into three to minimise supports, and hopefully reduce print time, but I am not sure that I succeeded...
The turret now has a separate gun barrel that might elevate...  Experimental.
The model may appear somewhat lacking in detail outside the suspension, but this reflects the actual vehicle, which appears in photographs to be almost stark externally.
I hope this model is of interest to modern period modellers and wargamers.
