The ASU-85 was an airborne SP gun of the early Cold War era. It makes an interesting, if surprisingly large, model, in 1:76 scale.
This model was based on a rather sketchy (sorry!) design in the SketchUp Warehouse, provided by Andrew M (in Cyrillic...), to whom my thanks. The suspension was very rough, so I have replaced this completely with one based on my earlier 2S1 offering (I have learnt a lot doing this!), and strengthened and simplified the model as best I can.
The model is split into three main parts for printing, which seems to go reasonably well, if cleaning out the suspension is a bit of a chore. The gun is also quite thin and warps, so be careful here. The centre body may not be quite right on its bottom surface but it prints, if a bit fragile in this area. I will look to improve it in due course. The front tow ropes do not print and cause a few minor issues; they are not trivial to remove, but I will try to do so later.
I also include a combined file to indicate the general arrangement, though it is fairly obvious, and an earlier version before splitting. I do not recommend use of this version (large file), as it is before strengthening, and is unlikely to print well.
I hope this is of interest.
Enjoy!
