Ironically it is (just barely) free standing. I watched Hitchhiker's Guide a few nights ago, and tried to look these guys up here. To my disappointment, there were none to print, and use in boardgames.
My first print had a foot break off when removing supports, so beware of tiny feet under there.
I used blender, and some images from the movie along with some fan art as reference for this model.
