This is Kushala Daora, the steel elder dragon and flagship monster in Monster Hunter Dos. This dragon controls winds that it uses to attack.

I turned the body on it's back, creating supports on the back part of the wings. Working a bit with removing supports i got it to look quite good.

Post-Printing

After removing support, I glued the head to the body and fixed the bits tha needed some work, like some of the support areas. After that i painted the whole thing grey and silver after that. Then I applied a brown wash to get a little bit of rust look, and then highlighted with drybrushing silver paint. when the painting was done I glued it to the stand.

How I Designed This

I made this in blender by making a base mesh and sculpting on a multires modifier. When the model was done I printed it, but the wings was to thin. Because I was changing my workflow at the time I paused on the project and started again over a year after. I then apllied the multires and added a decimate modifier to get less geometry. Then i sculpted it usin dynamic topology and remade the wings from scratch.
