The UK/Commonwealth's Universal Carrier, or Bren Carrier, was one of the most ubiquitous tracked vehicles of the war, with estimates ranging as high as 200,000 produced (including foreign-built derivatives.) A large number of them were captured and pressed into service by the Wehrmacht, including the forces of the 3.Panzergrenadier Division. Assigned to 4. Kompanie, Panzer Jager Abteilung 3, the unit was formed as part of the reconstituted division during 1943 in Italy.
Organized into Panzerjäger teams, they were utilized in rapid ambush attacks. German troops appreciated the mobility, reliability, and compact size of these vehicles for rapidly deploying into position, and making quick, undetected withdrawals after launching their strike.
Each unit carried between four to six men, and were outfitted with an MG42, three Panzerschrecks, and upwards of six Panzerfausts. While it has been incorrectly asserted before that the Panzerschrecks were arranged into some sort of makeshift firing platform on the back of the Bren carrier, in actuality these were only transport racks for the weapons. They were dismounted before firing in a more conventional manner.
This model is a remix of m_bergman's 1:100 scale Universal Carrier, with substantial changes to reflect the German conversion. Additional detailing came from TigerAce1945's Stowage Project.
