Made a bunch of Rune stones for LARP-ing. Credit goes to ChriZ3D for making the awesome Elder Futhark runes and Syzguru11 for the stone.
I just made them do the fusion dance and added a 5mm hole so I can make a necklace out of it.

Sanding
I used a high grit sand paper to remove most of the ribbing and carried on with a finer grit until the piece had a soft sandy texture.
Painting
Gave it a coat of black primer and once dried, I used the sponging method to layer greys, blacks and whites. Much like Wyloch did in his dungeon tiles tutorial.
Once satisfied with the paints, I used some back paint with a small brush to paint in the rune.
Finished off with two coats of Rustoleum glossy clear coat.
