A model of Earth as a sphere displacement map.
Displacement from the surface is not to scale - if it were, the details would be impossible to see - but the land locations are calculated from satellite image and moreorless accurate.
This model tends to produce small supports between the smaller landforms - I suggest using a non-sharp metal tool to remove these.
The landforms are printed as part of the shell of the model so they should not detach or degrade through friction under normal conditions. This helps distinguish supports from the model post-print: if the plastic comes away from the surface, it's part of a support.
Sharpness of edges on the model may depend on your material and print settings. PLA at 0.13mm produces a fairly smooth model that is safe to hold once the supports are removed.
