This microphone was created for a college production of CHICAGO. While we did not need to place a modern microphone inside, this design does provide access to a hollow area large enough for a Lavalier mic.

The base and stem were taken directly from Jeremycon's vintage candlestick phone. Thanks Jeremy, this saved me a bunch of time.

The base file includes a raft that I ended up leaving on the print. I thought it added another detail to item. If you go to Jeremycon's phone, there are other versions to use.

Assembly Information

You can see in the photo that there are some additional metal items needed for assembly. You will need eight screw eyes, as small as you can find, and eight springs. When installing the screw eyes, you will need to pre-drill the PLA to make installation easier. I printed the ring section with 100% fill, and the mic center with 5 shells to be sure the screws would have plenty to bite into. I found that the PLA and screws worked well together and I did not have any trouble with the PLA stripping out. In fact, I twisted off a few screw eyes and needed to use a slightly larger pre-drill to avoid doing do. My printer has a small print space, so I needed to print the ring in two halves and glue them together.

To assemble the mic center, you will need a small machine bolt and a nut. If you don't think you will ever put a mic inside, just glue to two halves together. I think the screw head makes a nice additional detail.
