This is a modified version of Adrien Liotard's excellent Tachikoma model, found here:

Greetings, fans of chatty military hardware!

I wanted a Tachikoma model for which I could print each individual part in the right colour (no painting required). There are about 60 pieces to this project, many of which occur multiple times in the completed model. I've named the files to indicate which ones need multiple prints.

At 0.10 layer height, 4 walls, and 60mm/s print speed, there's about 85h of printing here. You will definitely need glue; if printing in PLA, I recommend any superglue that contains cyanoacrylate. The socket joints hold the glue really well, so it's a very solid model. This is an intermediate modelling project as some parts are a bit tricky (like the fingers on the left arm). But it's totally worth it when you get it all together!

Features:

  • Rotating head (depends on how you glue it together)

  • Removable protective cover for main cannon (just like in the GITS series)

  • Removable back cabin (for easier transporting)

  • Display stand (It's a heavy model, and over time PLA may bend a bit if it's not supported for display).

Tips:

  • Some of the STLs are oriented in the way that they fit in the completed model, so you may need to reorient them before slicing.

  • A couple files are marked (Optional), these are variations that you may prefer to use for better structure or alignment.

  • For the big joints, make sure you let the glue harden overnight before putting any weight on them.

  • I used Blue, Sliver (or Grey), Black, White, Red, and Natural (for the stand). The files are labeled with a recommended colour.

  • When scaled at 100%, the triple eye holes are almost exactly 1.75mm in diameter. Depending on your print tolerances, you can carefully slot a tiny stub of black filament into them!
