A simple three piece "Pirate's Hook" designed with 123D Design from Autodesk.
The hook part is printed in two halves, to be glued together. No support required.
The hand cover (dome) is best printed upside down to avoid the need for supports. It is only 0.8mm thick which is fine and fast to print but I will try to upload a thicker (1.5mm) version that will withstand rough treatment such as sword fights.
After printing and gluing with 5 min Epoxy, I gave it a light sanding and painted directly with acrylic paints that I had to hand.
My four year old son had come to me one Sunday morning asking if he could have a hook like Captain Hook in Peter Pan. It was designed, printed, assembled, painted and ready to play with by mid afternoon. So far it has survived a week of being played with daily and the little pirate even sleeps with his hook. A big hit!
