Summary

This is a ⌀30mm x 5mm (1.2 x 0.2") hat badge that I made to wear while playing Pokémon GO, but it also makes a nice fridge magnet.

I use strong magnets to affix this badge to my hat (or my fridge). I've included base parts with cutouts for the ⌀16mm magnet or the 10 x 5 x 3mm magnet I keep on hand. Alternately, the flat base won't require any supports, and can accommodate other fixtures, or turn the badge into a collectable token.

Recommended colors as shown:

  • Black: pbb_base_flat (or with the desired magnet cutout; rectangular shown)

  • White: pbb_button, pbb_shell

  • Red: pbb_shell

If you want to print in one piece and paint it instead, I've included a pbb_one_piece_flat file as well.

Print Settings

Printer: Rapide Lite 200 v1

Rafts: No

Supports: No

Resolution: 0.1mm (recommended)

Infill: 100%

Notes:

Sliced with Cura, printed in PLA. Support was used only for parts with a magnet gap in the bottom. I use Fleks3D print bed material, so no rafts or brims were necessary. Your mileage may vary.

Post-Printing

Clean up the parts as necessary, then glue the pieces into place. The shape of the base piece should help guide the shell pieces into the proper position.

A little bit of glue holds the magnet in place. Put another magnet opposite the button piece to hold the magnet in place while the glue dries.

Be careful not to use too much glue. There isn't much of a gap between pieces, so excess glue will leak out around the parts.

I used Gorilla Super Glue Gel for this.
