In the original gopher I found the separate parts to be oddly shapped for trying to slice them all up to print on my (somewhat poor) FDM printer.
Then when I considered printing the whole complete gopher, the base would have required lots of support and I worried about the stability as the z axis increased.
Soooo - I cut the guy in half and added some alignment pegs to put the two halves back together after printing. It came out really nice on my cheapo printer.
The holes for the pegs are 7mm and the pegs I downsized to 6.8mm - that seems to be just right on my printer for a nice snug fit that holds the piece together.
