I wanted the print to be in different colors and larger than my printbed so I printed it in parts and then painted it. Ends up I am no good with painting and even though I clamped the parts together when I glued... I still misaligned on two axis.
Enter this model - I broke it apart into each section for filament color separation and avoiding the need to paint. I added a square center pole to ensure right angles. And to avoid confusion after the fact, I added dots indicating which piece and order for assembly. I also extracted the missile rails because I wanted those to be silver, but none of the body was to be silver, so there are holes where those go after the fact (one being larger to indicated direction).
I would recommend segments 2, 4, and 6 being the bands be the same color (recommend yellow). Also recommend segments 1, 3, 5, and 7 be the same color (recommend olive green or black).
Goes without saying, but a word of warning with this many pieces, please make sure that if you scale up or down - you retain that scaling with ALL pieces. Tolerances for the center strut and missile rails are pretty snug, improper scaling may result in those pieces not fitting.
Post-Printing
Assembly
With the dots indicating the numbers facing up and the same direction (e.g., all facing toward you, all left) begin assembly with the center support. Glue center support into bottom (has one dot), after sufficient time for glue to cure, add second piece (two dots), and repeat process until the nose cone which is unmarked.
How I Designed This
Size
Designed and deconstructed from a 249.86 mm total size. If you do not alter size of your print, that will be the total size.
