This is a model of the marine dropship from the movie "Aliens". I made this for my brother Steve's birthday. Happy birthday, Steve!!!
The AFT missile pods unfold using a hinge that has a 3/32" DIA pin. For convenience, I used a straight sections of a metal coat hanger to make the pins.
The FWD missile pods don't hinge. I figure they dont need to, since the missiles can fire in the unfolded config...
I didn't model any landing gear which is supposed to be visible in flight. I think it looks better that way.
The APC ramp isn't modeled. I suppose this is a 'flight' configuration of the model.
The aft section STL file has custom supports modeled, so there is no need to print supports for the aft section.
The only other parts that need supports are the AFT missile pod bodies and the mid section.
I printed the FWD missile cluster separately from the FWD section to make it easier to paint.
