My take on the Klingon Communicator from The Original Star Trek. Although I did not use any of his files, I am deeply indebted toRetrogram'sKlingon Communciator.I liked his the best of all the pictures and models I looked at, so I generally followed his proportions. I also copied his hinge, which works wonderfully.

The Klingon symbol on the back is from The Next Generation era, but it looks cool, so... :-)

I did not copy the design of the opening on the shield because it required supports to print. I went with a simple oval for simplicity's sake.

I rotated the body.stl and shield.stl pieces to print them vertically. I also put a brim around them to help keep them on the bed. They do not need supports when printed vertically. You'll need two button.stl pieces, one of everything else. The "pin" of the hinge between the body and the shield is a piece of 1.75" filament. The tolerances on the hole are quite tight. If there's any deviation in the hole, the filament probably won't fit through it. I printed several of these and sometimes I would have to put the shield in place and run a drill through both sides to get the holes properly lined up and cleaned out. So if you can't get the filament to go through, you may need to grab a drill.
