WARNING!!! I HAVE NOT YET PRINTED THIS MODEL AND DON'T KNOW HOW WELL THE PARTS WILL ASSEMBLE. PRINT AT YOUR OWN RISK.
This is just a project I've been working on. I'm new to blender (this is my second ever project in blender and by far the most complex) so things may not be done perfectly, but I like what I've created and want to share it, since there doesn't seem to be many detailed bird models here. The model prints as 7 separate parts, the belly and right/left patches should be white and the others black. The lower body/tail section is just small enough to fit within the print height of an Ender 3. I have included the full final model as well as the raw rigged sculpture that you can pose however you like. There are some weight painting problems that I couldn't sort out especially where the legs meet the body. I just posed it, saved the model as an stl or obj then reopened it in blender and smoothed out the rough parts in sculpt mode. The model is about 1/3 of a meter head to tail.
I did not design this specifically with printing in mind, so some parts (like the feet) may require some post-processing. I plan on primer and painting with matte black/white paints to smooth out rough spots then using epoxy to join the parts. I'm also hoping to find some black marbles/beads for the eyes. I will be updating this post once I print the model and make the necessary changes.
I am considering making projects like this in the future. Maybe a magpie in flight next.
