Modular Multipart Design

This model contains 22 separate pieces that are all designed to make for a quicker and easier printing, sanding, and/or painting experience.

One reason why I design my models to be separated by their natural components/seams is that this allows one to skip the tedious process of glueing pieces together that may have just been lazily sliced in half, quarters, etc.. I designed this model to ensure that each piece could be printed and worked on separately before assembly and glue is involved. This cuts down vastly on print/sanding/painting time overall, as one is able to work on individual pieces while others are printing. Additionally if you screw up a piece during any part of the process, you only have to redo that single piece rather than having to reprint a majority of it.

All the pieces fit together for a secure finished model. Additionally, there are some alignment pegs included to further secure the final print. All these interlocking pieces have had some tolerances introduced to ensure that every piece easily but securely slide together without hours of tedious sanding.

Updated, Highly Detailed Design

This model was inspired by the high definition render of the M60 shotgun done by Abimael Salazar on ArtStation, here is the link to his work

I started off with the original potato model from the game to use as geometric reference and then recreated every single piece by hand using the above photograph to include fine details. Fun Fact, the geometry of the shotgun from Halo 3 actually uses less polygons on the side of the shotgun you cant see in first person.
