This is a collapsible Katana based on the work of 3DPRINTINGWORLD:
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3639693

I redesigned it to give the blade the traditional curve that one would expect from a Katana. This is notdesigned to be printed all at once. In particular, the center blade section is in three pieces (two for the blade and one connector). My printer (Prusa Mk 2.5) only prints 200mm tall (or so) so printing the handle in multiple pieces let me make it a little longer.

Printing: All were printed using the same settings recommended by 3DPRINTINGWORLD

  1. Print the blade 1-to-4 file - Stand the model on the smaller end

  2. Print the blade 5-1 file - Stand the model on the smaller end

  3. Print the blade 5-2 file - Stand the tip on the flat end

  4. Print the blade 5 align pin file - Stand on either flat end

  5. Print the handle file - Stand on the end with the smaller opening and no recess

  6. Print the pommel file - Point the taper down

  7. Print the guard file - Flat side down
This should work without supports on any parts. The blade tip does have a bridged section but there should be clearance for it to work even if there is some sagging.

Assembly:

  1. Glue the three piece center blade together.

  2. Slide the blade sections together in order.

  3. Slide the blade section group into the handle and test to make sure everything slides nicely.

  4. Glue the pommel onto the end of the handle. It should be a perfect to snug fit.

  5. Slide the guard (tsuba) down the blade and glue it into place as well.

I have included a "Blade 1 to 4" file that would let you print those four pieces in one go, as well as individual files if you want to vase-print the sections. I have not tried the vase print mode but 3DPRINTINGWORLD mentions it works on his sword sections.

Finally, a STEP file is included that has all pieces assembled. Feel free to modify, if you do, let myself and 3DPRINTINGWORLD know what you came up with!
