Post-Printing
You'll need a 8mm rod (screw ou wood or whatever) to strengthen the sword and I recommend using epoxy to glue everything together.
You can use a 24mm wood cylinder for the handle for a better result (but don't underestimate the difficulty of drilling the 8mm hole in the center).
Before painting, it will require a good filling/sanding or the flat layer changes will be visible.
For the painting, I recommend:
first => metal spray layer
finish: black painting applied with a brush and wiped with a towel
