I took all parts from the 190 cm version and scaled them up by 160% to print a new 3 m version of the Eiffel Tower Model on a German RepRap X400. The smaller parts were printed on an Ultimaker 2. The only parts changed were the bridge section parts from first stage. In the 190 cm version, this section is built up by 12 parts, in this 3 m version, there are only 8 (4 corners and 4 bridges). I skipped the railing on the first stage, so there were 84 parts to print in total.
The 3 m Eiffel Tower was put to display at the first Mini Maker Faire in Zurich, Sept. 16/17. 2016.
Printer:
German RepRap X400
Rafts:
No
Supports:
Yes
Resolution:
0.32 mm
Infill:
8%
Notes:
Support only needed on parts 04 and 05
Some of the parts need to be printed upside down.
Assembly
I used double-sided adhesive tape for most of the assembly, after I had to discover, that this connections were better than the first try I did using epoxy glue. Make the first stage be solid to carry your own weight, then build higher.
Room height
As the full height of the tower is 3.06 m, a room height of at least 3.10 m is needed to be able to build the whole object.
Filament
I used good quality filament from 3Dfilum on 10 kg spools. Thank you for your support. In total, the tower weights 54 kg.
Build volume
You will need a larger build volume than 20 x 20 x 20 cm to print the largest parts.
