My own take on the 7th Doctor's TARDIS key from the 1989 story Ghostlight. The model is split into three layers, which should be glued together in post-printing.
This model was designed to fit around a normal key, making it a functioning TARDIS key.

Assembly
Once the design was printed, I glued the bottom two layers together with acrylic craft glue. I then cut the head off a normal key (in this case the key for my TARDIS console's car ignition.)
Using more acrylic craft glue, I attached the lower half of the key to the slot in the middle of the 3D printed key.
Finally, I glued the top layer of the key into place (I used elastic bands to hold all of the layers into place while the glue dried.)
Painting
I started out by giving the key a light sanding to rough up the surface and allow it to hold more paint, before painting the key with a few coats of silver acrylic paint.
I then painted the the recessed sections of the key with black acrylic paint.
Finally, I heavily weathered the key by rubbing more black acrylic paint into the key.
