A replica of the capacitor bearing salvaged from the crashed Star Destroyer on Jakku by Rey in The Force Awakens.

PLEASE NOTE: This file does not include the top portion of the capacitor bearing, only the lower half and the ring that fits around the centre of the prop.

The top half of the original prop was made from a Tommy Walsh Precision Screwdriver Set, which can be found here:
http://www.poundland.co.uk/tommy-walsh-precision-screwdriver-set

Assembly instructions:

  • Once printed, glue the "capacitor_lid.stl" to the top of the "capacitor_lower_body.stl".

  • Glue the "central_ring.stl" to the top half of the capacitor bearing (the casing from the screwdriver set.) The ring should be glued around halfway up the vertical portion of the casing.

  • Glue the top half of the capacitor bearing to the completed lower half.

  • Paint! (weathering is optional)

I will be modelling the forked greeblie for the top half of the capacitor bearing soon, and will add it to this Thing once completed.

Print Settings

Notes:

I haven't had this 3D printed yet, so I'm not sure on the resolution or infill that will be required.

However, based on previous projects, I estimate that a resolution of 0.2mm or even 0.3mm would be sufficient to reproduce the details in this model. Due to the nature of the design, I would say that supports would be required, although I cannot be 100% sure.

DISCLAIMER: These are simply estimates, I will update this section with more accurate print settings once I have this 3D printed myself.
