The Catalina flying boat is a WW2 era maritime patrol plane. It was used as an anti-submarine plane amongst other things.
I didn't make this design from scratch. I downloaded the original model from here: https://www.cgtrader.com/free-3d-models/aircraft/other/catalina
Once I got the model, I used 3D Builder (Windows 10 default 3D designer) to split it down the middle. Exported it, then loaded it into Tinkercad (a simple, browser-based, editor). From there I removed the propellors, thickened the wing struts and tail, added that piece of the hull underneath the tail, retracted the undercarriage, added the gunning blisters and added floats on the end of the wings.
