my first "serious" 3d print.
my work: Modify 3d model to be 3d printable
based on this 3d model: http://www.free-3d-models.com/Car/Car-3D-Model-ecef4e5f ("This model may be freely modificated or elaborated.")
Printer Brand:
Prusa
Printer:
Prusa Mk2
Rafts:
No
Supports:
Yes
Resolution:
0.15mm
Infill:
20%
Notes:
just used the default slic3r PLA profile with 0.15mm layer height. It is important to use supports (rear end of car else warps and hits print head).
This model is low-poly (single tiangles visible)!
Wheel mounting clips are not ideal. They fitted best at 95% print scale. Wheels do not turn nicely. If you want nicely turning wheels, you need to modify the model (make wheels round instead of lowpoly) and use massive steel/copper/.... rod and drill through model to mount them.
This is based on a 3d model of a porsche car found on the interwebs "for free" (unfortunately without explicit stated licence). The 3d model obviously came from a game (or was designed for a game) as there were only visible areas modeled. I removed the interiour (seat, dashboard, steering wheel), closed the bottom of the car to be a solid object. Wheels were modified as well. Car and wheels contain holes to hold a clip (not in this design files!). A simple cylinder will work.
As this is just a rough modification it will slice in slic3r but slic3r will show lots of errors it fixed. But it will print.
The .blend file is a mess as well - I am just starting 3d modeling/blender-ing!
