Increasing regulations protecting the endangered wild unicorn population and tighter restrictions on the unicorn ivory trade have made it all but impossible to legally obtain legitimate unicorn horns.
Instead of turning to a counterfeit specimen or a black-market horn from a poacher, print your own lifelike replica using these models!
These horns were painstakingly recreated using five of the major unicorn subspecies as references. No unicorns were harmed in the creation of these models.
Read more about the creation of these on my blog: https://roadtopolymathy.wordpress.com/2017/05/15/magic-materials-monday-unicorn-horns/
Notes:
Slic3r's spiral vase setting was used for the illuminated horns in the photo. Pictured materials are White ABS and Translucent Green PETG, both by Inland. The white ABS horn is lit with a single 8mm diffused blue LED, and the green PETG horn is lit with a 5mm white LED.
Be careful when printing these without infill- too high of a temperature will cause ugly distortions toward the horn's tip as the layers get less time to cool.
