The original owlbear is awesome. Hands down, awesome. It is cut in half, so supports aren't needed — just a little bit of glue. I kept the design, and added a little bit to it.

I remade it into a spiked breastplate owlbear, just in case folks like me ever run a specific Pathfinder adventure path. (I did not re-scale the original...you can increase the size in your slicer like I did for the black one in the picture.)

Notes:

Check before printing it, if you do finer layers. It was good at .15mm, but one of the backs isn't 100% smooth.

How I Designed This

Blender modification overview

I extruded armor over its shoulders, back, and chest. Next, I cut-and-pasted cones for the spikes. Finally, I used sculpt mode to add the straps that connect the pieces.

If you look at the stl, it's not perfect-perfect. During sculpting, it altered the smoothness of the mesh where the front and back are glued together. An objective lesson, when you think you're mastering things. It should print just fine at .15mm layer height.

The original owlbear does not have this flaw — I'll hopefully revisit this project again once I figure out better methods.
